Workshop on ATA Carnet Hindu Business Line, Kolkata, November 27, 2010

Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (Ficci), as the sole National Issuing and Guaranteeing Association (NIGA) for ATA Carnet in India, held a workshop on the subject here on Friday to familiarise the local trade and industry with the operational aspects of using an ATA Carnet and its benefits.

Mr P S Pruthi, Commissioner (Customs & Export Promotion), Central Board of Excise & Customs, delivered the keynote address.

AT A Carnet is an internationally accepted Customs document used by exporters while travelling outside the country with commercial samples for participating in exhibitions or trade fairs or on business promotion tour.

An ATA Carnet service thus aims to facilitate movement of goods across borders on temporary basis without paying Customs duty.

The ATA Carnet service is available to business and sales executives, diamond jewellery and precious stone exporters, exhibitors at trade fairs, demonstration samples, film and TV crew, architects, artists and theatre troupes.
